  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ⅔ cup pumpkin puree (blotted)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (for icing)
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream the unsalted butter, white sugar, and dark brown sugar using an electric mixer until fluffy.
  4. Add in the egg, maple syrup, and blotted pumpkin puree; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
  7. Scoop approximately two-tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 13–15 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  9. Cool on a rack before icing with a mixture of powdered sugar, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves.
