Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix Greek yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, garam masala, ground cumin, ground coriander, smoked paprika, chili powder, and salt to form the marinade. Add chicken pieces and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook marinated chicken until browned on both sides (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, melt ghee and sauté chopped onions until translucent. Add garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant.
  4. Stir in spices and cook for another minute. Add tomato paste and crushed tomatoes; bring to a simmer.
  5. Gradually add coconut milk while stirring and let simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
  6. Return chicken to the sauce; simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes until heated through.
  7. Garnish with cilantro and lemon juice before serving hot with rice or naan.
