  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes until the meat is cooked through. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Stir in chopped stewed tomatoes and beef broth. Season with chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add rinsed pinto beans and salt to the mixture. Cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving hot.
