  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 11 oz soft caramels or caramel bits
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and chunks.
  7. Press two-thirds of the dough into the prepared pan.
  8. Melt caramels with heavy cream until smooth; pour over the pressed dough layer.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top of the caramel layer.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool completely before slicing.
